Balanced Numbers LLC

I grew up in Northeastern Connecticut and graduated from business school with an emphasis on accounting and office management. I then attended a local community college for Business Management. Most recently, I held the elected position of Revenue Collector for my Town for the last twelve years. I attended schooling for three years and passed a State Exam to become a Certified Connecticut Municipal Tax Collector, which is the highest achievement for that particular position in the State of Connecticut.

I have also worked for the last several years as administrative support and an accountant for a financial company that deals with estate & trust management and tax returns. Prior to that, I worked in the healthcare field as an Administrator. My first full-time position was at a junior/senior high school as Administrative Assistant to the Principal and Guidance Office.

I am one of seven children and grew up in the era of The Waltons & the Mary Tyler Moore show, disco music (remember Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees??), Saturday morning cartoons, and 8 track players. I was born to wonderful parents in a small town in Northeastern Connecticut, where I have lived my entire life! My parents were both raised in the Depression Era and I was #6 out of 7 children, so you can probably imagine what my upbringing was like! My parents taught me the value of an honest day’s work, how to make something out of nothing, and to set goals & work towards them. My father owned his own trucking business and my mother ran his office and did all the work herself, including the accounting!

I am the proud mama to five and grandma to four (with a fifth expected in July 2016). My hobbies include photography, beachcombing, gardening, baking, reading, geocaching, traveling, hiking, and simply enjoying the marvels of nature. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, volunteering in my community, exploring new places, and setting off on fun adventures with my husband.

To clearly demonstrate my affection for reading, I am on the Board of Directors for my town’s library. I am the past Treasurer for the oldest social library in the United States which is also located in my town. Of my five children, two of them have the love of books and two are entrepreneurs themselves! I have been a leader for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, member of the school PTO, a participating member of various community boards and commissions, and continue to participate in as many fundraisers and outreach programs as my spare time allows. Two of my greatest volunteer positions were: 1) Designing an outdoor music festival and chairing that event for five years and 2) campaign manager for our present First Selectman, which was a comprehensive four month commitment. I consider myself to be an active and dedicated member of society.

In my business life, I truly enjoy helping others to learn their potential and helping them to balance their lives (work, home, and play). I am a budgeting extraordinaire and love to make sense of numbers. I also love to focus on details and to work on projects that assist business owners in reaching their goals. I am highly organized, have superb customer service techniques, outstanding communication skills, and possess exceptional time management skills.

I created my firm, Balanced Numbers LLC, because I wanted to share my love of the business world with my passion for helping others. I truly care about helping others succeed and I want to share my skills and provide a beneficial and unique service by working with entrepreneurs who need to create a work life balance or need a helping hand with managing their business tasks. What makes my business unique? I treat each client as an individual and tailor my services to meet their needs. Plus Balanced Numbers is run by yours truly…and there’s only one of me!!
